“Pick one of the technological innovations below and analyse its use and implications for the healthcare sector:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Robotics
  • Genomics.”

The essay should address:

  • Introduction to the innovation
  • Evaluation of the innovation
  • Financial, socioeconomic and patient safety considerations (where relevant)
  • Critical perspective of the innovation
  • Your opinion and conclusion
Essays should be no longer than 1500 words (excluding reference list), with references in Vancouver style. There is no limit to the number of references.

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] by 31st July with the subject: “CMJ ESSAY COMPETITION *YOUR NAME*”. Essays should not contain any personally identifiable information and should not have your name within the file or the file name as marking is anonymous. The essay should be entirely your own original work and should not contain material that has already been used, to a substantial extent, for any other purpose.

This essay competition is open to students studying any subject at a UK university. Only one entry is permitted per person.

There will be a £100 prize for the winning entrant. The winning and commended essays will be published on the CMJ website. Results will be announced on the CMJ website in early September.
